Well, someone might have said something like that but they were wrong...especially if they are talking about needing one in the Seattle area.
When I moved to Seattle I was pleased to find that there was a great radio station that was playing some really progressive music with great old classic songs mixed in with new "alternative" rock. They were not the amped up, this is cool 'cause no one's ever heard of it juvenile alt rock radio station. It wasn't "The End" or "The Edge" or anything like that. They didn't play a lot of Outcast, Linkin Park, or Limp Biscuit. OK, some Outcast, but not too much. They were playing the new REM when other stations were still only playing "Losing My Religion". They were playing new John Hiatt when other stations were only playing no John Hiatt songs at all that weren't performed by Bonnie Raitt. In short, it was a pretty fucking cool radio station.
I am sad to report that 103.7 KMTT Seattle (The Mountain) is now "A Mountain of Classics" which is another way of saying "a big pile of stuff we've already heard too much and can get a better selection on the other classic rock stations, which are legion." End quote.
